The idea that “thoughts become things” is a concept that comes from many different philosophical, spiritual, and self-help teachings. Our thoughts, beliefs, and intentions can influence events in the material world and manifest outcomes in our lives.

For some, this might be a bit woo-woo, but it’s also science and a fundamental concept in cognitive psychology. Cognitive psychology recognizes the impact of thoughts on behavior, emotions, and mental well-being.

When you understand the concept “thoughts become things,” can be incredibly powerful and transformative.

Imagine starting your morning filled with doubts, unmotivated, and overwhelmed by negative thoughts. This mindset will follow you throughout your day, dampening every hour with negativity.

Now, let’s change that scenario. Imagine yourself waking up with a spark of positive thinking, ready to face the day with energy and expectation. This small but mighty change can fuel transformation in your life, leading to more positive life changes ahead.

There are several different perspectives on how thoughts become things and why this concept might matter:

1. Psychological Perspective

Psychological Perspective

When looking at different ways of understanding and analyzing the human mind and behavior, we look at how factors such as emotions, environment, and upbringing influence our thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

A self-fulfilling process is a belief or expectation that can influence your behavior. It’s these expectations that cause the idea to come true.

Remember the quote by Henry Ford that said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right,” If you discover that you constantly think about and anticipate or expect specific outcomes to occur (such as failure or success), your behavior may unconsciously shift to make those outcomes a reality.

Understanding this can help you create a positive mindset to improve your likelihood of achieving desired outcomes in your own reality.

Focus and Attention

If you’re continuously thinking about a goal or desire, it’ll increase your focus and attention. You’ll begin to notice opportunities you haven’t seen before, making you more likely to achieve them. This demonstrates the process of how thoughts can become things.

2. Law of Attraction Perspective

Law of attraction

The law of attraction perspective focuses on positive or negative thoughts. Individuals can bring positive or negative experiences into their lives based on the belief that like attracts like. The movie has helped hundreds understand the key principles of the universe.

One way to use the Law of Attraction is by visualizing or picturing what we want to happen instead of what we don’t want. You wouldn’t get into a taxi and say to the driver, “Don’t take me to the airport.” You’d instead tell the driver where you want to go, right? The universe works the same way according to the law of attraction. When we imagine our goals and dreams, it gives them direction and helps to make them come true.

The secret movie

Mike Dooley popularized the law of attraction in the film “The Secret.” He is best known for teaching that “thoughts become things.” The film and that concept have shown real-world impact, positively influencing the world and helping hundreds of thousands globally.

Dr. Mararu Emoto conducted an experiment where he scientifically demonstrated the effect of human speech and thoughts on frozen water crystals. In his experiment, he showed how speaking or thinking beautiful or ugly words and thoughts to water affected the cell structure of the frozen crystals. The beautiful crystals were affected by beautiful music, positive thinking, and uplifting words, and the ugly words spoken mutated cells and formed ugly crystals. The water crystals heard the words and thoughts and changed because of them.

Why does this matter? Thoughts emit vibrational frequencies, and similar frequencies change and attract each other. Thus, positive thoughts attract positive outcomes, and negative thoughts attract negative outcomes. In this case, thoughts become things, and so do their vibrations.

3. Practical Perspective

practical perspective

From a practical perspective, thoughts often come before action and influence them – thoughts become things. Consistent focus on your goals, can motivate you to take steps toward achieving them. Your mindset shapes behavior and outcomes.

For example, if you want to start a business, you’ll start by thinking about different business ideas. But to start the business, you’ll still need to take action: develop a business plan, research your market and customers, and create a website. Your thoughts will only translate into tangible results when you take action.

The Power of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is not just a buzzword; it’s a practical tool for creating your desired life. You can use positive thoughts to shape your stories into reality by replacing negative thoughts that don’t serve you.

The transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistent effort, positive thinking, and visualization, it can become a solid foundation and tool for building a life filled with abundance, success, and happiness.

Turning negative thoughts into positive ones is a powerful strategy for enhancing mental and physical health, improving relationships, building resilience, achieving personal and professional goals, and improving overall quality of life. The practice requires consistent effort and attention, but its many benefits make it worthwhile.
