Dad bloggers have emerged and are bringing a unique perspective to the parenting blogosphere. Gone are the days when mom blogs solely dominate parenting blogs.
In today’s evolving parenting landscape, dads online enjoy talking about practical tips and sharing their own experiences. You’ll find dads writing about life as a gay dad, a domestic dad, a geek dad, and a skint dad.
Dad blogs can be filled with funny stories and expert parenting advice that create a supportive online community for other dads.
Dad bloggers can range from daddy style diaries, a designer daddy, and stay at home dads which all play a crucial role in breaking stereotypes and challenging traditional gender roles. Dads who share their stories and perspectives help to foster a more inclusive and diverse parenting community where fathers’ advice and expertise are now heard and appreciated.
A dad blog can be a great way to start a blog, share your parenting experiences, and make money online.

What is a Dad Blogger?
A dad blogger is a father who shares parenting advice, his experiences, insights, and perspectives on various aspects of fatherhood through blogging.
Dad bloggers typically create and maintain dad blogs where they write about their personal journeys as dads, raising kids, discuss parenting tips and advice, share stories and anecdotes about their children, and cover topics related to family life, relationships, work-life balance, finances, and more.
Some dad blogs help their fellow dads on their parenting journey live more fulfilling adult lives, while many other dad bloggers aim to connect with other parents, both moms and dads, providing a platform for sharing and learning from one another.
They may offer a mix of personal stories, practical parenting tips, how to guides, product reviews, and lifestyle content targeted specifically toward dads or a broader audience of parents.
Dad bloggers contribute to a more inclusive and diverse parenting community by offering a unique perspective on fatherhood, fostering discussions, and supporting other dads in raising children.

How to Start a dad blog step by step (become a dad blogger)
If the examples of successful dad bloggers have left you feeling inspired and ignited your passion for sharing your fatherhood journey, then you’re ready to dive into the world of dad blogging.
In this comprehensive step-by-step guide, we’ll explore the essential process of starting your own dad blog, allowing you to connect with other dads, provide valuable insights, and contribute to the vibrant community of dad bloggers.
One of the first and most exciting steps is finding your dad blogging niche and choosing the perfect dad blog name.
Pick a Dad Blog Niche
Finding your dad blogging niche is a crucial step in establishing your unique identity in the dad blogging community. It’s an opportunity to define the topics you are passionate about and connect with a specific target audience of dads who resonate with your experiences and insights.
Take a look at your own fatherhood journey and the aspects of parenting that you feel most compelled to share. Are you an expert in providing practical advice for new dads? Are you passionate about promoting mental health and well-being among fathers? Do you have a knack for writing humorous anecdotes about the ups and downs of family life?
This will help you identify your unique niche for your own blog.
Consider the interests and needs of your target audience, which are dads. Are there specific challenges that new dads often face and need guidance on? Are there popular topics related to family life that you feel passionate about exploring?
By aligning your niche with the interests and needs of your target audience, you can create valuable content that resonates with other dads and establishes you as a trusted source of information and support.
Choose your Dad blog name
Once you’ve discovered your dad blogging niche, it’s time to choose a dad blog name that captures the essence of your content and leaves a lasting impression.
Brainstorm names that reflect your niche and look at the keywords/topics you thought of earlier. Think about the tone you want to set for your blog—is it lighthearted and humorous, or more serious and informative?
Consider using puns, alliteration, or incorporating your own name or a play on words related to fatherhood. If it’s appropriate, I like using your own name, as it will allow you to pivot later.
Your Dad blog niche is where your passion, expertise, and target audience intersect. It’s where you can share your experiences, insights, and advice in a way that resonates with other dads.
Maybe you’re writing parenting advice and tips, kids and tech, about the outdoor life or about being a single dad. Take some time to reflect on your interests, the topics that ignite your enthusiasm as a dad, and the audience you want to connect with.
Select your Dad blog domain name
Think about keywords related to your niche, brainstorm creative ideas, and consider the availability of domain names (preferably a .com). You can also use your name or some variation of your name, which gives you the ability to pivot if and when needed. You can use domain registration services like Siteground to search for available domain names.
Choose the platform and hosting for dad blogs
As a dad blogger, you’ll need both a platform and hosting for your blog. You’ll have a few different options for your blogging platform, but I always recommend WordPress.
Think of web hosting as renting a storage unit for your website. The hosting company provides the physical space on their server where your website’s data lives. They also take care of the technical aspects, like making sure your website is accessible to visitors and handling things like security, backups, and maintenance.
When someone wants to visit your website, they type your website/blog domain name into their web browser. The browser sends a request to the hosting server, which then retrieves the website’s files and delivers them back to the visitor’s browser. This allows the visitor to see your website’s content, interact with it, and navigate through its pages.
Web hosting is essential for making your website available to anyone with an internet connection. Without web hosting, your website would just be a collection of files on your computer, inaccessible to the outside world. So, by utilizing web hosting services, you can share your website and its content with people everywhere, making it accessible 24/7.
My two favorite web hosting companies are Siteground and Showit. When I first started out, I used Siteground. I currently use Showit’s hosting on this blog.
You can host your blog on Siteground for $3.99/mo with the GrowBig plan. If you choose Siteground to host your website, you’ll want to start designing your website by choosing a WordPress theme.
Showit is a drag-and-drop website platform that gives you more creative freedom without using code (unless you want to). You get a website + advanced blog for $34/month. If you use Showit you’ll have access to a hands-on team that will help you set up and integrate WordPress for you.
Showit offers both free and paid templates for your website/blog. I purchased my template from Tonic.
Start where you’re comfortable, you can always update and change your blog at a later time when if you want to upgrade.

Promoting your dad blog will help increase its visibility, attract a larger audience, and establish your presence in the dad blogging community. Here are some strategies to effectively promote your dad blog:

Be sure to provide valuable content, and try to include links back to your own blog. - Networking with Other Bloggers
Engage with other dad bloggers by leaving thoughtful comments on their posts, sharing their content, and participating in collaborative projects or link parties. Building relationships with fellow bloggers can lead to cross-promotion opportunities and increased visibility. - Email Marketing
Create an email newsletter to stay connected with your audience. Offer exclusive content, updates, and special promotions to incentivize readers to subscribe. Use email marketing platforms like ConvertKit to manage your subscriber list and send out regular newsletters. - Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Join online parenting forums, social media groups, and dad-specific communities to actively participate in discussions, share your expertise, and provide value. Be genuine and helpful, and avoid excessive self-promotion. - Collaboration and Cross-Promotion
Collaborate with other dad bloggers or parenting influencers on joint projects, podcasts, or video series. By cross-promoting each other’s content, you can tap into new audiences and expand your reach. - Utilize Visual Content
Create engaging visuals such as infographics, videos, or images to accompany your blog posts. Visual content is highly shareable and can attract more attention on social media platforms. - Attend Conferences and Events
Participate in dad-focused conferences, parenting expos, or networking events to connect with other influencers and industry professionals. This allows you to expand your network and gain visibility within the parenting community. - Consistency and Quality
Above all, maintain a consistent publishing schedule and focus on creating high-quality content. Consistency builds trust with your audience (and Google), and quality content encourages readers to share and recommend your blog to others.
Remember, promoting your dad blog is an ongoing process that requires dedication and effort. Experiment with different strategies, track your progress using analytics tools, and adapt your promotional tactics based on what works best for your audience.
