If you’re interested in learning about a business that transforms lives, will help you transform your business, and helps you get real with yourself, you’ll want to read up on this interview with Jennifer Williams, founder of Heartmanity.

Her business model is centered around helping others heal, grow, and transform relationships and lives, beginning with their relationship with themselves.

Heartmanity offers guidance to anyone with the courage to step out of their comfort zone and the desire to transform their life.

They work with parents, couples, individuals, and professionals to help them learn a roadmap to commune with their hearts, live their truth, and discover their true selves untethered from the past.

Introduce yourself and tell us about your business and customers

Heartmanity is the business of transforming lives at home and work.

Heartmanity is the business of transforming lives at home and at work. Jennifer’s mission is to create thriving relationships, first with self and then in every relationship, personally and professionally.

With a foundation in emotional intelligence, we work with individuals, couples, children, parents, and families, as well as leaders and teams in companies, to hone skills and heal what gets in the way of authentic communication.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My primary inspiration to start my business was to help people by teaching them needed emotional intelligence skills, such as empathy, and how to be true to themselves while also being respectful and loving to others, even when difficult.

With a passionate desire to heal whatever gets in the way of true connection, I believe that relationships are our greatest resource.

What are the most important lessons you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Passion is powerful fuel but must be channeled effectively. Every decision in business must also be weighed against ROI and market demand.

2. I learned the hard way that ideas, no matter how good, are only worthwhile when acted upon swiftly. Prioritization is paramount to being truly effective. Clarity is power.

3. Take care of resources. Less is more. Only hire when your income supports the hire, and don’t settle. Hire your superiors, who know what you don’t.

4. Take time to plan adequately and give clear direction with follow-up when delegating.

5. Monetize all decisions, so you have the capital to reinvest in projects and initiatives that have the biggest impact on your business and those you serve.

What resources, such as books, courses, or mentors, have been helpful in your personal and professional development?

Mentorship is crucial for continual growth since we all have blind spots. I believe in a growth mindset for all who want to build a business.

In my own personal experience, I have chosen people who model what I espouse dearly. In my training in emotional intelligence, my greatest teachers have been Dr. Daniel Siegel and Daniel Goleman.

What platform, software, or tools do you use to run your business?

I’ve tried SO many tools over the years. The ones that have assisted me in my business the most are:

  • Grammarly,
  • Shopify,
  • Square,
  • Acuity,
  • Momentum,
  • Airtable,
  • Hubspot,
  • Google Analytics,
  • SpyFu,
  • and my faithful Mac laptop!

How do you maintain a work-life balance as an entrepreneur?

I don’t believe in work-life balance. Moment to moment, we must identify what is most important according to our goals, values, relationships, and needs as a person, business owner and leader, spouse, parent, grandparent, friend, etc.

Values are the rudder that keeps us on course.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are just starting their journey?

Get clear on your goals and design a business around the lifestyle you want so it doesn’t run your life. Put self-care and your relationships first.

Having a clear picture of what we want and the practical steps to get there is essential. No matter what skill we have mastered, this knowledge or service doesn’t do us any good if we don’t know where we’re going.

When you have a burning “yes,” it’s easy to say no to opportunities that don’t align with your vision.

Where can people find you?
